How Clear Is The Church’s Stance On Abortion?

We’re now halfway through Season 1 of my brand new podcast Church Unboxed, and the feedback has been so overwhelmingly positive from listeners. We have even had 4 radio stations that have requested the content to be broadcast weekly, including one from the United States! I’m really grateful for the opportunity these messages and conversations have to reach thousands all over the world.

If you’ve been listening to the podcast, do let me know your thoughts by joining the conversation on the Facebook Group where we discuss each episode, answer questions and share ideas about future episodes. I would love to hear what you think 🙂

Did you know that on average, 1 in 3 women has an abortion in their lifetime? So if we apply this statistic to a church with say a hundred women, that tells us there is a chance that over 30 women sitting in the pews are going through challenges relating to abortion at any point in time. Yet we rarely speak about it from the pulpit. In this week’s episode of Church Unboxed, we unpack why abortion is a vital issue that the church needs to engage with and respond to and I’m joined by Dave Brennan whose organisation – Brephos works to equip churches on speaking about and responding to abortion.

Back in July 2021, we got the news in the UK that MP Diana Johnson had decided not to take to parliament, her amendment to the UK Bill that would have introduced abortion on demand, for any reason, up to birth. Pro-life campaigners and health professionals welcomed the news, as did many Christians across the country. Personally, I saw this as a step in the right direction and had a very enlightening discussion with Dave on this critical and sometimes controversial topic of abortion.
